The full name of FSGS is Focal and Segmental Glomerulosclerosis. Our kidney consists of many many glomerulis. This illness attacks the glomerulus, or the main filtering part of the kidney. There are two forms of FSGS, and they both cause protein to leak into the urine. Over time, the protein acts as a toxin that injures the remaining parts of the nephrons. The rate of the resulting damage fluctuates from patient to patient. For some it is progressive and slow, in others it is rapid. In any case, the damage leads to kidney failure, which requires dialysis or transplant.
Kidney is the main organ to clear our blood, means it can discharge the toxins out of our body. Kidney contains a layer of filtration membrane, which consists of Glomerular epithelial cell, basement membrane and glomerular endothelial cell. Once this filtration membrane is damaged, the protein will be leaked into urine. FSGS is the result of damaged Glomerular epithelial cell and basement membrane.
Why some people will get this disease?
The reasons are various. As i said in the last email, FSGS is a kind of auto-immune system disease. Nearly 95% of kidney diseases are the result of damaged immune system and low immunity. When our immune system is damaged, the harmful foreigners can not be removed when they enter our body, they will be accumulated in our body, forming immune complex connecting with antibodies in our body. These immune complex will move to other organs with the blood circulation. When they achieve to kidney, our kidney will release inflammatory factor to fight against these immune complex, this process can be named as inflammatory response. kidney disease is the result of extreme inflammatory response.
Then how to treat this disease?
